Have You Thought About Creating a Web-Site?

We have clients asking about authoring Web-Site pages from time to time. As a way to help our clients and others to get their business exposed on the web, we are supplying this page to information and tools that we have found or run across in our travels on the web. This page is not all inclusive, nor does it answer all the possible questions that can come up. If the answer isn't here, and you can't find what you are looking for, drop us a line and we'd be glad to use all the resources at our disposal to try to get an answer for you.

Many clients think that they have to spend lots of money to get onto the "Web", but the truth is it can be almost "FREE". Let me say that again, "Getting on the Web can cost almost nothing."

There are two basic types of Web-Sites, one is "Static" and the other is "Dynamic." Most web surfers are familiar with Dynamic Web-Sites. A simple definition of a Dynamic Web-Site is that it includes products, services, or information that is constantly changing or is interactive (i.e. EBAY, CNN, On-Line stores, Game Sites, Chat Rooms, or News Groups) and Static Web-Sites generally supply basic, non-changing information and links to other Web-Sites or services (i.e. AMD, Microsoft, or even this site).

We highly recommend a good "Web Designer" if you plan to implement a "Dynamic Web-Site", but if your just interest in a "Static Web-Site" here's a few basic pieces of information:

  • 65% still desperately need a Web-Site
  • 50% have Web-Sites that need updating
  • 44% do not have time to create a Web-Site
  • 31% can not afford the huge cost of building a site
  • 27% lack the technical ability to create a Web-Site
  • Your ISP already gives you a place to upload your site! Make sure you check your agreement, but most state that the Web-Page is to include information about the user only. Well, if the Company owns the account and you don't include pricing there's not much the ISP can say.
  • You don't need a Domain (.com, .biz, etc.), but it's highly recommended.
  • A good Domain Registrar will include packaged services, like unlimited e-Mail accounts, in their registration packages.
  • Did you know most Designers use templates with the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) presently being the most  used? Many retail or On-Line design programs include templates (i.e. CityMax.comImage Link to Web Site Design Templates.).
  • You can relocate the hosting of your Web-Site anywhere and anytime you want
Two registrars that offer packages are DomainAvenue or YourNameFree . DomainAvenue supplies hosting and extensive services, but requires a higher hands on involvement than YourNameFree, which is designed more for redirection services.

Since this page is designed to be helpful to those who have been authoring pages for some time and those just starting out, we would greatly appreciate feedback on links or information that can be helpful to everyone.

Systems Integration Technologies will review all submissions for relevance, content quality, and objectionable material. Questions concerning our decisions can be directed to our Webmaster.
